Light Drilling Rig MR160 – Australian Made

The FP-160-AA Portable Drilling Rig is designed to drill down for diamond drilling as well as core sampling.

This model is designed to be easily disassembled, hand carried and transported between worksites that conventional machines cannot access.

The FP-160-AA has inherent safety features built into the design. This includes an emergency stop, stabiliser legs, hydraulic hose covers and a moveable console for comfortable operation.

Mini Auger – Model 130

Acknowledged as the industrial version where power, lightness and cool operations are the name.

The light, very portable, post hole and tree planting auger drill that saves the operator from auger turning forces typically experienced when using hand held, two stroke engines and hand held hydraulic drills. This machine utilises our many years of experience to bring you the most reliable and highest torque drill. The aluminium oil reservoir holds 8 litres of oil and the fins on the side of the reservoir keep the oil cool. The oil is filtered with a replaceable cartridge type filter element. Operation of the drill head is simply squeeze the RH trigger for clockwise rotation to 70 rpm or LH trigger for the opposite rotation. We can fit optional floatation type wide tyres and a simple hand operated brake to ensure that the drill can be used on hills and wheeled over soft sand or ground. The chuck is a simple tang drive with a locking collar so that augers can be quickly changed. The top photo shows the a 350 mm auger, drilling into weathered sandstone and the next photo shows the power pack driving a hydraulic rock breaker. The little hand drill at the bottom of the page is capable of drilling up to 50 mm dia holes in Australian hardwoods at around 25 mm per second and is powered by the mini auger hydraulics. ” The mini auger is great but it is the little drill which is exceptional”-a local Government supervisors comment.Other tools are also available for different applications. Two models are (dimensions and weights are a guide only):-* Mini Auger 5:- 5 hp engine, speed at 60 rpm, torque at 430 Nm, weight, 142 kg, dimensions 1500 mm long x 710 mm wide x 820 mm high.* Mini Auger 9:- 9 hp engine, speed at 70 rpm, torque at 820 Nm, weight, 144 kg, dimensions 2460 mm long x 710 mm wide x 820 mm high. Why not give yourself a “surprise” and make your life easier with our mini-Auger. Other’s have not believed the power. Some testamonials are:- “people are amazed at the power’ and, “you know, that machine has saved us hours of work over the hired machines but that is not the machine that really surprises us, it is the little drill, its fabulous!”

Melvelle has been designing and building all these machines for over 25 years. Why not join our list of satisfied and enthusiastic customers now. An buy quality from an Australian built and Australian owned company.

Mini Rig MR153-2

Model 153-2A Light very portable diamond drilling rig for light diamond drilling investigations and installing electrical earthing stakes which require low cost and high portability. Drill heads used are the RD121E (1500rpm), RD193E (900rpm) & RD244E (600rpm). The last two drill heads are capable of drilling NMLC holes to 20 & 30 Metres. This rig gives a helping hand with hydraulic feed for those light duty and highly inaccessible sites. It is the lightest and smallest of our power feed drilling rigs. Our power packs and hand held drill can be removed and used independently. The mast will also lay down to the horizontal position.Drill head travel is around 2 metres with an over all height around 2.25 metres. An independent power feed is used to give the rig a push/pull capacity of 200 kg and fully variable speed of travel. (Operator pressure control on feed optional). A range of drill heads give a top speed of 1500 rpm (E rod), 900 rpm (E Rod), down to 350 rpm (A Rod), and torques between 30 Nm to 200 Nm.

The choice of power packs vary from 6.5 hp to 18 hp petrol or diesel engines. Although not shown installed with the mast, they actually fit into the mast base to add weight the rig. Mast length overall 2600 mm with stay, length of base 1220 mm, Width of base 665 mm weight 20Kg. Drill carriage mast excluding drill head motor & water swivel, 38 Kg, hand held drill head weight 10 Kg, Console, valves & hoses about 18 Kg (depends or what is required and varies from rig to rig.

The power pack available 11 hp to 20 hp – 18HP Honda Twin outlet shown), not only drives the drilling rig head but also powers a 55 l/min triplex water pump (to 400 psi) and is mounted on two stainless steel water recycling tanks. The water recovery is made by feeding the water from the drill hole into a stand pipe and discharged into the under/over baffled tanks. The stand pipe is drilled a short way into the ground to provide a joint to re-cycle the water. The water pump is capable of pumping non lumpy Gypsllm/Bentontemit (“Earthron”) into the hole for final bonding. In sandy conditions the water pump can be used with jetting clamps which can be clamped onto 9/16″ or 5/8″ copper pipe and with an “Earthron” slurry, the copper pipe can be pushed straight into the sand, while ever the returning slurry along side the pipe keeps a fluid boundary between the pipe and the sand.
