The Melvelle Equipment Ballast broom is a mounted excavator attachment suited for use on 4-14T class Hi Rail machines. It is designed to sweep ballast from the foot of the rail and fasteners when the rail has been flooded with ballast of before maintenance work is to be carried out. The broom sits on its guide roller and the operator can tilt the head to suit the depth of “brooming” required.
The standard single twin broom is designed to clean both sides of one rail leg simultaneously.
