Melvelle Engineering commenced trading as a Partnership in  1982, and was incorporated as a private company, limited by shares in June 1988. It is a family business with three members actively running the day to day operations.

The company has specialised in the design and manufacture of light weight high powered products, principally for railway track maintenance, earth drilling and investigation drilling rigs, hydraulic power packs ranging from 5 to 30 horse power in both petrol and diesel as well as a few other sundry products, excelling all similar products made any where else in the world. We have some 250 products and variations on our price list at present with a range of new products being prototyped, tested, field trialed and finally released as an ongoing development programme. The products typically reflect the practical nature of  simple maintenance, robust construction, and outstanding performance.

Our great desire to be "the best" is ingrained and when we became aware of the Quality Assurance Accreditation standards, we became one of the leading small companies to be Accredited to the ISO 9001 standard. We achieved Accreditation on our first audit in 1994 by Standards Association of Australia.

We have a select group of foundries and subcontractors where quality products at the right price on time and every time is the main selection criteria. These companies are on our controlled list and enable us to produce in the order of 30 machines per month (with planning lead times), and still maintain the quality of the product.

Our work shop is equipped with modern computer controlled machines, together with grinding, milling, slotting, pressing, welding and general turning machines. This enables us to choose to fully manufacture the products "in house" or sublet certain elements in order to meet scheduled requirements. All assembly and testing of final product is carried out at our plant and none is carried out by subcontractors.

The Managing Director was previously the Group Consulting Design Engineer and Managing Director of another international organisation for 10 years prior to the formation of Melvelle Engineering. His expertise now spans over 27 years of designing products and  managing  two companies with direct responsibility for the design and manufacture of some 2500 machines, many of them are still superior to other companies products today. The Managing Director is qualified in engineering and commerce, recognised by the International Who's Who of Professionals and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. Andrew Melvelle, his son, is a full time employee and qualified with an Associate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and currently undergoing formal training in business management.

Our client base has extended to all states of Australia and overseas, due solely to the customers experiencing better service, better and improving products and particularly providing that competitive edge.  We are a totally Australian company, committed to quality products & customer service, growing successfully with superior products despite strong European and American competition.
