Staff achievements:- Well, our Kirrily has done us proud again with a 1st class honours pass in Mechanical Engineering Degree after many years of hard work.

General:- We have been going strong continuing to develop and produce new products at 3 - 4 major new machines each year. This is an outstanding achievement considering that this pace of development has been maintained since the establishment of the comnpany in 1982.

Recently we had our Quality Assurance audit but with a new organisation this time. So our licence is now JAS-ANZ QMS approval No A/Q92016 to ISO 9001:2000. We continue to be strongly committed to quality products with approval to the ISO standards going back to 1994.

RAIL EQUIPMENT

Weld Shears:- Our weld shears benefit from redesign with the introduction of our 168 hand pump model which has a slightly higher shearing force, weight reduction to 49 Kg including jaws and high speed blade closing requiring only 25 hand pumps (about 25 seconds) to close the jaws.

New Tram Rail Shears are proving to be an outstanding success, able to shear tram rail welds to 120 mm wide rail.

Rail "Clipping Machines":- Our on going development continues. Further improvements to our PC156 direct acting Pandrol "E" and "PR" clipping machine with an easier and stronger frame mounting. An new "E" clipping head which mates up with the new Track Pack railway maintenance machines.

Further imporvements to our Fast Clippling and unclipping machines and extension of the design to accept the Steel Sleeper Track Lock I and Track lock II clips.

Our Safelock Clipping and Unclipping machine is continuing with good results in very high working temperatures. It is powered with our small 4.7hp diesel power pack and our unique hydraulic oil cooling system. As a result despite very high ambient temperatures (in the order of 55 - 60 deg centigrade) the hydraulics remain relatively cool.

Rail Steel Sleeper Clipper:- The new clipping head now available in the track pack design. Heads now avilable for the Track Pack System are Spike Puller, Spike Driver, Timer Sleeper Drill, Fast Clipping and Unclipping Head, Steel Sleeper Clipping and Unclipping Head, Timber sleeper Speed borer, Hand held Timber Drill, Pandrol E Clipping and unclipping head, New trolley mounting which allows the trolley and the machine to be lifted together (needs to be requested).

DRILLING

The Percussion Sampler is now available as a vibracorer, with sample retention basket and vacuum pump sample retention features. Further developments are a new light weight larger capacity hydraulically powered vaccuum pump.

Our MR160 drilling rig now includes a simple rod and casing clamp. The machine that recently was delivered into the Solomon Islands, was specifically built to be carried in ocean going canoes as well as be broken down into small components for man carrying along jungle trails. Powered by a 17 hp diesel engine which also powered a hydraulically driven triplex water pump. From mid January 2004 when the rig went into service until mid May 2004, over 4000 metres of drilling was done in the space of 3 months, this included moving the rig to a large numbe of sites. The deepest hole was around 40 metres or AWJ. Drill head maximum speed 800 rpm.

Drilling Rigs

Look at our revised Super Rig, We have done it again, 6300 kg pull/thrust, infinitely variable feed and hydraulic system, mast extension, the ability to dismantle and power erection of the mast extension. Our Data Sheet now shows the Super Rig fitted to a Toyota Truck, engine is 27 Hp Ruggerini, drill head suitable for auger drilling.

We can now offer a new high speed and very much higher torque top drive drill head with very little weight increase.

Now we can say our products are used in every corner of the globe with our Super Rig model 123AN being helicopter transported to site for investigation work in the South Pole - Antarctica. It is still one of the best power to weight rigs available.

We have developed a new casing jack for those highly portable applications being either 30 or 50 Tonne capacity casing and rod jacks. It is the model 174 DT weighing 27 kg plus jaws 2.5-4.5 kg and hand pump13 kg), 150 mm stroke and maximum bowl opening of 100 mm.

Exciting news as Melvelle Engineering forges new relationships working with our new distributors in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines and products working in Indonesia, East Timor, Solomon Islands, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Ethiopia and Brasil. It is a wonderful experience meeting new and exciting people and cultures. Our products are preferred and well respected in Australia with a number of products performing well in other countries including Indonesia.
